Just Junk by Cheryl

I am a housewife that has been making things for my home for many years. I always believed in the saying "Necessity is the mother of all inventions" I just knew that I could make things so much cheaper than I could by them. I started out sewing and making my own curtains and then I tried painting things for my own use. Now one of my favorite things is to buy something at a junk store and re-make it into something else or just make it better. My friends all compliment me on my talent. I just say "It's Just Junk!

  1. My nephew built this shelf for my mom in order to hold canned goods. When she moved to a smaller place I brought it home with me. I used it some for storage and then got tired of it being in the way,so I stored it. Then one day while looking at it the idea to recreate it into a buffet came to me. I had to purchase some wide pieces of pine and trim. My photos show the steps that I took to transform it. I was rather pleased with the results.

  3. I purchased this old buffet for $25.00 and already had the paint,so I have less than $30.00 in the whole project. We needed a new tv and I could not afford or even liked the new cabinets in the stores. I came up with the idea of converting and old buffet into a media center. I removed the drawer fronts and putting hinges on them and put them back on so they would drop down and open up a place to store the Vhs/Dvd player. I sanded it all down in order for the paint to stick well. I always paint an undercover of black paint, because I think that it makes the top cover look richer.I bought the black paint from walmart on a sale rack, because the person that had it mixed did not want it.That goes half price. Worth looking at.I am very happy with my new media center.

  4. This is a photo of the quilt block that I painted on an old table top. I was given one of those cheap side tables that has 3 screw in legs. I really didn't want it,but I didn't want it thrown away either. I discovered as I removed the legs and the steel bracket that held them, that the legs could be saved and used as something.I think that the brackets could be painted and then mounted on the wall. The legs can be screwed back in and used for a variety of uses. I think they could be used as towel holder or a quilt holder or wherever your imagination takes you. This was a cheap craft and these tables can be bought new for around $5.00.
